Luckily, the resorts that still operate to full capacity today are well worth visiting though. They are an all-in-one option that satisfies many of the traveller’s needs. Today the good news is, some of the places that have strayed from their Wasaga Beach resort status are now starting to bring back resort-style offerings. For example, at least one resort has a restaurant on site. There is an arrangement between the resort and restaurant for discounts for their guests. Another resort in Wasaga Beach has a spa on site. One resort is located on the river which connects to Georgian Bay lake. It has tour boats operating from it through the summer – how cool are tiki boats you can drink on and party! At different times it also had jetski rental operations there too. There are resorts with kayak and canoe rentals, pools, hot tubs, saunas, little games and more. In Wasaga Beach, the sizes of the resorts tend to be 15-20 units each. Each unit has 1 bedroom units up to 5 bedroom units, depending on its size. Capacities for those are generally 2 people in the one bedrooms up to 14 people per unit in the 5 bedrooms. Sometimes a Wasaga Beach resort can sleep up to 100 people comfortably, and they regularly achieve that.
As for style of guests, a typical Wasaga Beach resort is more geared to families since the resorts are bigger operations and have more people to please. This means the resorts are calmer, quieter, tidy, and cared for. There currently aren’t any party resorts in Wasaga Beach, but some larger multi-cottage properties are welcoming after prom parties and graduation groups. These are more of the younger, high energy groups and less of the tranquility loving guests.
Even though resorts usually mean hundreds of rooms, huge and spread out, bustling with tons of people, Wasaga Beach resorts are more down-to earth. They are so down-to-earth that they are privately owned and operated. That means the chances of a guest meeting and interacting with the owner is high. The service is much more personal when it’s a smaller resort and a guest can almost know the staff on first name basis. For a Wasaga Beach resort, a guest is not just a room number or booking number, they are known by name. That’s a good feeling.
